“The best friend on earth of man is the tree. When we use the tree respectfully and economically, we have one of the greatest resources on the earth.”
Wood is the only major building material that is renewable and clean: it does not cause global warming, does not require energy-intensive processing, and is not problematic to dispose of. Provided it has been responsibly sourced, the use of timber also assists responsible forest management.
Covering approximately one-third of the world’s landmass, trees provide us with an enormous sustainable source of environmentally friendly raw material - and for an extraordinary variety of products.
Timber has an intrinsically timeless quality and beauty, and our designs endeavour to highlight and celebrate its natural character, figure and tones. We design with discretion, fusing the clean lines of Modernism with some of the detail of more Classical styles, and hand-select each piece of sustainable timber for the project in hand. When tropical hardwoods are required, we only use independently certified timber, such as that certified for its sustainability by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)*.
* The FSC, founded in 1993, is the highly-respected, international non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests.
